Arctic campaign summer 2006

During July-August 2006 we did fieldwork on Hansbreen and Ariebreen, southern Spitsbergen, Svalbard, with logistic support from Hornsund Polish Polar Station. The participating team members were Javier Lapazaran and Francisco Machío, with support from Piotr Dolnicki. The glaciological works focused on radio-echo sounding (20 and 200 MHz) and common mid-point (CMP) measurements (20 MHz) on those glaciers. Additionally, we did echo-sounding (200 MHz) aimed at determining the thickness of the active layer of permafrost in the vicinity of Hornsund station, as support to a polish project on permafrost research.
