Arctic campaign spring 2010

Francisco Machío, together with the Russian researchers Evgeny Vasilenko, Yury Macheret and Ivan Lavrentiev, carried out the fieldwork of the Arctic spring (April) 2010 campaign in Spitsbergen, Svalbard. This campaign focused on ground-penetrating radar works on the glaciers Tavlebreen, and Austre and Vestre Grønfjorden, all of them in the vicinity of Grønfjorden, where is located the polar scientific station of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Barentsburg, that provided the logistic support for the fieldwork. We used the ground-penetrating radars Ramac/GPR, of 25 and 100 MHz, and VIRL7 of 20 MHz, the latter one developed by our team, being this fieldwork the first field test for the equipment.
